When people think of Dallas, visions of bustling nightlife, a strong food scene, and excellent shopping all are associated with this ever-expanding Texas metropolis. But even though Big D is surrounded by Blackland prairies and rolling hills, the area’s many lakes and moderate weather create perfect venues for wineries. When we are in Dallas, we love to spend an afternoon enjoying one of the city’s beautiful and unique wineries found everywhere from the charming suburb of Grapevine to an urban marketplace in downtown Dallas.
Eden Hill Loft Winery

The sprawling Dallas Farmer’s Market is home to Eden Hill’s Loft Winery where visitors can sample Texas and California wines amid the gorgeous stalls and bustling marketplace at the center of downtown. We love to nosh on nibbles like Artichoke Dip and Chips or huge Italian Meatballs to compliment a glass of 21 Cabernet Franc while we ponder which bottles to bring home for later.
Messina Hof Grapevine Winery

One of the most well-known wineries in Grapevine, just west of Dallas, is Messina Hof. Serving 100% Texas-made wines, Messina is located inside of a gorgeous historic hotel and visitors at Messina can expect a classic winery experience with carefully selected food pairing options like Cheese Boards to enjoy alongside tastings.
Homestead Winery At Plano

As the fourth outpost to Homestead’s original Ivanhoe location just north of Dallas, Plano Homestead is a perfect option for a winery experience in a genteel old home. With a handful of handcrafted Homestead wines and a choice of a sweet or savory charcuterie board to nibble on, a visit to Homestead feels intimate and personal.

The beautifully rustic venue of Bull Lion Ranch Winery feels transplanted from Central Texas’s wine region, but we also love to visit their Grapevine storefront to sample their family-recipe Italian wines. Guests here can sip on 100% Texas wines and sample a fabulous array of food from seasonal Thanksgiving Turkey and Stuffing to sweet treats like Chocolate Covered Strawberries and authentic Italian Cannoli.
Landon Winery McKinney

One of six Landon locations, McKinney’s spot is situated perfectly in quaint downtown McKinney, and usually always hosts a few musicians on the covered patio to serenade visitors and passers-by. This winery’s cozy interior offers multiple rooms perfect for sharing tasting flights with a table of friends along with Landon’s Texan Board, a Texas-sized charcuterie brimming with local goodies, or one of Landon’s sharable Artisanal Flatbreads.
Cassaro Winery

South of town, Cassaro Winery offers tastings and a classic winery experience with its beautiful grounds, frequent live entertainment and beautiful indoor venue. The Italian-Texan wines crafted by Cassaro is a huge draw here, but we also love their True-Crime-and-Wine events where we can drink our favorite Cabernet or Tempranillo and listen to vintner John Matthews walk through his previous work in law enforcement that led to the capture of a notorious serial killer that is currently a book and being turned into a feature film called the Eyes of Jefferson.

Grapevine’s historic downtown is home to the Bingham Family Vineyards outpost, one of four Texas locations. Growing 100% Texas wines in the high plains, Bingham offers award-winning wines like their 2019 Merlot, Texas Class Champion Silver winner at Houston Uncorked. The winery’s classic tasting room is comfortable and chic, overlooking Main Street, and visitors here will enjoy little sumptuous treats like Artichoke Dip and Cheese Boards to pair with Bingham’s delicious wines.
Barn Hill Estates Vineyards

This Dallas area winery hosts live music every week and these concerts are a big draw to this rustic, rural winery. Casual seating outside or in the barn sets the stage for good times at Barn Hill Estates, and visitors can either bring in their own food in coolers or buy from the on-site food truck paired with the concert. Many grapes for their delicious wines are grown on-site, and the beautiful rolling hills dotted with grapevines and the friendly livestock surrounding the barn area create a magical experience at Barn Hill.

Another gorgeous tasting room to visit in Dallas’s wine region of Grapevine is Sloan Williams. Live music and an ambitious Tapas menu including Bacon and Brie Naan, Stuffed Mushrooms and Bacon-Wrapped Stuffed Dates make the Sloan & Williams Winery a must-do when in the area. The tasting room’s rustic Texas charm hints at the High Plains and Hill Country wines that dominate this spot’s wine list.
