Alpenglow Restaurant

Stunning views, good friends, great vibes and delicious food – there’s nothing better than spending an afternoon or evening at a great rooftop restaurant. No matter the season, a meal is always better with a skyline vista or a view of the mountains (especially if there are igloos and heat lamps in the colder climates). We’ve looked at the best rooftop restaurants in every state in the US using a mix of Yelp reviews, Google trend analysis and word of mouth. See the full list below to see which rooftop restaurant we found in your state!

The Roof at Redmont

2101 5th Ave N
Birmingham, AL 35203
(205) 957-6828
From this view, you can see “the stars fall on Alabama”.  Beautiful Birmingham is visible from a birds eye view at The Roof at Redmont, a cocktail lounge at the top of the Redmont Hotel Birmingham (part of the Curio Collection by Hilton).  With experienced bartenders and a bespoke, changing cocktail menu, there’s lots of different libations to try while seeing a beautiful sunset over the Alabama horizon.  If food is what you’re looking for, start downstairs at The Hotel’s Harvest restaurant, where you can dine on Southern/New American dishes like their house made pork rinds starters, hickory smoked wings, Gulf caught fish, and rosemary braised chicken.

Alpenglow Restaurant

238 Parks Hwy
Denali National Park and Preserve, AK 99755
(907) 683-5100
There’s nowhere in America with more natural beauty than Denali National Park.  At Alepnglow restaurant, you can dine on the best that Alaska has to offer – everything from wild caught Alaskan seafood like King Crab legs, salmon and halibut to delicious steaks and chicken.  They also do a killer breakfast, a great way to fill up before hiking the most beautiful terrain in the country.

Outrider Rooftop Lounge

7142 E 1st St,
Scottsdale, AZ 85251
(480) 590-3864
Old Town Scottsdale is a beautiful gem in the Phoenix metro area.  With charming shops, world class restaurants and stunning views of the Phoenix mountain preserves, a day in Old Town Scottsdale won’t end better than gnoshing on shareable plates and creative cocktails at the Outrider Rooftop Lounge.  With a chef driven approach to favorites like chicken wings, meatballs and pretzel bites, you won’t go hungry looking at Arizona’s stunning vistas.

Agasi 7

322 Rock St
Little Rock, AR 72202
(501) 244-0044
Downtown Little Rock can get lively, and there’s no better place to soak all that in than at Agasi 7.  They focus on delicious pizzas and flatbreads, along with great shareables like Thai Curry-Spiced Deviled Eggs, Ginger Garlic Wings and Caprese Bites.  They’ve also got a great burger, the Heavenly Seven, with angus beef, grilled onions, mushrooms, roasted tomato, arugula, a house sauce, cheddar and smoked gouda on brioche.

448 S Hill St
Los Angeles, CA 90013
(213) 802-1770
As downtown Los Angeles has seen a recent revitalization over the years, Perch has been sitting right at the top – literally, at the top of the Pershing Square building.  With a French-inspired menu, cozy firepits and unbelievable views, Perch is the perfect night out with friends in DTLA.  In addition to food service that includes everything from Baked Brie to Bouillabaisse, they also have a great cocktail menu and wine program with 25 wines by the glass.

2030 W 30th Ave
Denver, CO 80211
(303) 993-3120
Linger is considered an “Eatuary” since it’s built in the space of a former mortuary, but don’t let the moniker fool you – it’s lively in there.  With the rooftop kitchen operating out of a former food truck installed on the roof, the menu is small but with great shareable, Asian inspired bites  like Bao Buns, Edamame, Spring rolls and Potstickers.  They’ve got skilled bartenders and a robust cocktail list, including drinks like the Frozen Painkiller for those sunnier afternoons, and a Baharat Old Fashioned for those cold weather nights.

Sign of the Whale

6 Harbor Point Rd
Stamford, CT 06902
(203) 883-8282
With Stamford’s first rooftop bar and a view of the Atlantic, Sign of the Whale could just sell oysters and drinks and call it a day.  But they made a great effort to round out a full, mouthwatering menu with chef focused fare like whipped local ricotta, veal ricotta meatballs, beef empanadas, and New York strip steak, along with delicious burgers and pizzas.  Along with the mouthwatering dishes they offer, they also have Adult Juice Boxes (in capri sun style pouches), Bacardi Buckets (16 oz smoking cocktails complete with a popsicle) and custom shots for those looking to turn your regular old night into a party.

Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant

620 Justison St
Wilmington, DE 19801
(302) 472-2739
Iron Hill brewery is a national brand with locations throughout the United States, but their best spot has to be in Delaware.  With a rooftop view overlooking the Christina River, diners can enjoy scratch made dishes that pair perfectly with Iron Hill beers.  With hearth baked pizzas, burgers and tacos, there’s something for everyone on the menu, but don’t overlook the Chef’s Table options which change regularly.

1111 Lincoln Rd
Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 763-8272
When you’re in Miami, you’re always in a Sunshine state.  That’s why when you’re making lunch or dinner reservations, you’ve got to go to Juvia, where you can get a sunny view of Miami’s skyline (plus there’s plenty of shade if you’ve already been cooked like a lobster at the beach).  The menu takes a high end approach to seafood with dishes like Sashimi grade seared tuna, Hamachi caviar and whole lobster in umi butter, but don’t let the fancy names put fear in your wallet – they also do a $49 three course dinner with items like their crispy pork belly, pan seared salmon and tiramisu.

9 Mile Station

675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE
Atlanta, GA 30308
(770) 999-1532
9 Mile Station sits on the roof of Ponce City Market, a former municipal building that’s been converted into a food court and shopping experience in the heart of East Atlanta.  With an incredible brunch featuring dishes like a giant Monkey Bread and Pastrami Bendeict, you can find plenty of influencers there on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  But the cocktails are excellent, featuring skilled bartenders and top shelf alcohol, in addition to great beer and wine lists.  Pro tip – while there is an entrance fee to reach the roof of Ponce City Market for its various amenities, you can get there for free by making a reservation at 9 mile station.

SKY Waikiki

2270 Kalakaua Ave
Honolulu, HI 96815
(808) 979-7590
At SKY Waikiki, Mahalo becomes MaHIGHlo.  Situated on the 19th floor, SKY Waikiki has stunning panoramic views of Diamond Head.  It also features a world class seafood menu, including items locally caught or flown in immediately for maximum freshness.  Get a bubbly and the seafood tower with some friends at SKY to make an unforgettable night in Hawaii.

302 N Green St 3rd Floor
Chicago, IL 60607
(773) 645-1400
Chicago may be the City best known for rooftop dining in America.  After a harsh winter on the lake, Chicagoans are ready to get outside and soak up the soon as soon as the mercury moves past 50.  Aba may be the best of them all, not only because of its stunning rooftop decor, but because of its world class kitchen and menu.  With inspiration from Israel, Lebanon, Turkey and Greece, chef CJ Jacobson makes mouthwatering Mediterranean dishes like their crispy short rib hummus, cold mezze, Shawarma spiced skirt steak, kebabs and more.

The Eagle’s Nest

1 S Capitol Ave
Indianapolis, IN 46204
(317) 616-6170
Other than getting spun out at the Indy 500, the Eagle’s Nest is the best 360 view of Indianapolis.  With a rotating rooftop that gives full panoramic views of downtown Indianapolis, The Eagle’s Nest at the roof of the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis is a romantic approach to fine dining that’s perfect for date night or a special event.  The menu is French inspired and features dishes like baked brie in a puff pastry with nuts and a wild berry compote, a three cheese gratinee soup, filet mignon, Duroc pork chop and more.

Wellman’s Pub and Rooftop

597 Market St
West Des Moines, IA 50266
(515) 222-1100
Most of the places featured on this list have breathtaking views or 5 star dining, but we’re putting Wellman’s at the top of our list for Iowa for one good reason – they know how to have fun.  That’s not to say the food isn’t delicious – they’ve got creative bar bites like jalapeño poppers made with a wanton rangoon and a gochujang chicken and rice bowl, along with classic fare like burgers, pizzas, and wings.  They have an enormous craft beer list along with margaritas, sangrias, martinis, and more.

5270 W 116th Pl Second floor

The Carousel Piano Bar & Lounge

214 Royal St
New Orleans, LA 70130
(504) 523-3341
They say some places in New Orleans will give you the spins, but were they talking about the Carousel Bar?  With a bar that rotates every 15 minutes under a colorful, child like carousel, it’s constantly happening at Carousel Bar.  The Bar overlooks New Orleans’ famous Royal Street, where you can watch colorful guests and locals traipse down the French Quarter.  While it has an expansive and impressive cocktail list, the Carousel Bar doesn’t have food, so make sure to fill up at the Hotel Monteleone’s other restaurant, Criollo, which serves New Orleans’ classics like beignets and remoulade.

Bayside Bowl

58 Alder St
Portland, ME 04101
(207) 791-2695
Bayside Bowl isn’t just a great rooftop destination – it’s the funnest venue in Portland.  In addition to 20 lanes of bowling, they have incredible craft cocktails and chef driven bites, including a mouthwatering Smash Burger, delicious personal pizzas and snacks like poutine, chicken wings and nachos.  Summer is movie season, so be sure to check the website for the latest rooftop films.

Union Rooftop

731 Hennepin Ave Suite 1,
Minneapolis, MN 55403
(612) 455-6690
Everyone knows that the mercury drops in Minnesota for most of the year, but Union Rooftop is immune to those changes in season.  They have Minnesota’s only retractable rooftop, allowing for views of the City year round – and that warm summer breeze during the best months of the year.  The menu features excellent steak cuts and fantastic New American entrees like lobster mac & cheese and braised short rib, along with delicious shareables like crispy pork dumplings, firecracker shrimp and pork belly lollipops.

10 South Rooftop Bar & Grill

The only thing mightier than the Mississippi is the view at 10 South Rooftop Bar and Grill.  With vistas of the Mississippi River, Centennial Lake and downtown Vicksburg, there’s no better place to have a cold one and something cajun – whether that’s their gumbo, hoppin john, or catfish.  They’ve got great options for the whole family, too, with a solid kids menu featuring burgers, corn dogs and more.

Vin de Set

2017 Chouteau Ave,
St. Louis, MO 63103
(314) 241-8989
At Vin de Set, they say “St. Louis” the way it was meant to be said, with a French accent.  With one of the city’s best wine selections, Vin de Set adds to the oenophile experience with breathtaking skyline views.  In addition to the jaw dropping wine list, they have French dishes that can be perfectly paired with any of their selections, including baked goat cheese, steak frites, coq au vin and more.

Billings, MT 59101
(406) 969-2599
Just down the street from Montana State University and a stone’s throw from downtown Billings stands 406 Kitchen and Taproom with the best roof deck in the area.  After brother and sister team Jake Brosovich and Brittainy Doucette took over the store from family, they added the roof deck to appeal to the younger college crowd. Now it’s packed on the weekends with hungry diners and revelers enjoying the view. The menu features all kinds of favorites no matter the cuisine, including tacos, burgers, fish and chips and more.

This world class restaurant at the top of the Strat hotel offers the best views of the Vegas strip – along with adventurous tourists bouncing off the edge of the building on a bungee at the nearby Skyjump.  The steaks are grilled and they feature some of the best cuts, including prime tomahawk chop, prime rib, new york strip and more.  Lobster, shrimp, crab and more are available to top off your steak with, but the other entrees are also excellent for those looking to eat something other than red meat.

The most romantic restaurant along the entire Virginia shoreline has to be Orion’s Roof in Virginia Beach.  With a focus on high end Asian fare and breathtaking views of the entire Virginia Beach coast, dinner for two (or more if you’re into that, we don’t judge) is always sexy at Orion’s Roof.  Split the oysters and some sushi for an extra aphrodisiac at dinner after a fun day in the sun.

With a breathtaking view of the Seattle skyline and a five star approach to the culinary arts, every dinner at Ascend Prime is a special event.  The staff is world class and takes a white glove approach to every meal, no matter the occasion.  The restaurant’s creativity shines in its appetizer menu, with options like jackfruit “krab” cakes, wagyu beef cheek bao sliders, and kurobuta pork belly, but they also revere and honor the classics – specifically with their approach to sushi that uses only the freshest available options and is made by skilled, Japanese trained chefs, and their approach to steak, using fine wagyu cuts and drying American steaks to perfection.
