Miami is well known for its warm climate, Latin-American influences, white sandy beaches, Cuban coffee, and delicious cuisine. It’s no wonder we went touring the magic city in search of budget-friendly restaurants that serve tasty meals without compromising on quality. Here are our top picks for the Best Budget Restaurants in Miami.

El Palacio De Los Jugos

5721 W Flagler St., Miami, FL 33144
(305) 262-0070

El Palacio De Los Jugos offers a wide variety of choices focusing on Latin and Caribbean cuisine. It is one of the best budget restaurants in Miami, offering an authentic Cuban experience. We got to taste their delicious meals and savored their pan con bistec, maduros, croquetas, and chicharrones (deep-fried, salty pork belly rings).

We visited during summer and enjoyed the open-air concept. The yellow and red awnings are part of their concept, and we found these in each of the branches we visited around Miami. They offer delivery, take out and catering for events. It is a family-owned restaurant that has been in operation since 1977, bringing budget-friendly tasty meals to the locals. They are also known for their tasty, signature, freshly-made juices from locally sourced fruits.

El Rey de las Fritas

1821 SW 8th St., Miami, FL 33135
(305) 644-6054

9343 SW 40th St., Miami, FL 33165
(305) 223-9944

10142 W Flagler St., Miami, FL 33174
(305) 223-7260

El Rey de las Fritas is a great little spot that offers original, enjoyable Cuban dishes and serves the original Cuban burger. The restaurant is tastefully furnished and gave us an authentic Cuban experience as we sat on Cuban rolls to dine. Since 1976, they’ve been a part of the Miami community and have built a name with their uniquely delicious Cuban fritas, made using a secret recipe.

We found the frita Cubana amazing, especially the shoestring fries and sautéed onions that topped the well-seasoned ground beef patty, set in a Cuban bread roll. We didn’t have to miss out on that Cuban-style uniquely-made burger with several outlets across the county. For less than $4, it was real value for money. El Rey is among the best budget restaurants in Miami.

Cafe Versailles & Bakery

3555 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135
(305) 444-0240

The chandeliers give the place a lovely, vintage feel. The restaurant facilitates special diets which are vegetarian friendly. We found a pleasant blend of Cuban, Latin, and Spanish cuisines in the restaurant, and the bakery had the most appealing and delicious dessert menu. One of our favorites at Versailles Bakery was the tres leches (milk cake) – we felt it melting in our mouths, and we relished it to the last crumb.

We had their special Cubanos for dinner, notably one of the best in Miami, and it cost us less than $9, quite a bargain. They use select ingredients to bring out the taste in this magnificent Cuban sandwich, traditionally made with pickles, roast pork, sweet ham, and Swiss cheese. Versailles has remained among the best budget restaurants in Miami since its inception in 1971.

La Sandwicherie

229 14th St., Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 532-8934

La Sandwicherie is the place to be if you’re looking for all things sandwich. They’ve been in operation since 1988 and have perfected the art of sandwiches. We loved the place, albeit small. The sandwiches were tempting, and most of them, including the signature sandwiches, were under $10 each. Their ingredients are so fresh you can hear the crispiness of freshness as you bite into the generous servings.

With several locations within Miami, we never failed to enjoy one of these French-inspired delicacies. Plus, for the days we weren’t up for a sandwich, we enjoyed the same juiciness in a salad topped with their crave-worthy signature vinaigrette that is so popular we bought a few jars to take with us. They are open almost every hour, so it doesn’t matter what time the cravings start.

El Mago de las Fritas

5828 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33144
(305) 266-8486

El Mago offers the Caribbean and Latin cuisine, and we got to enjoy fries that were as thin as a shoestring. The restaurant is famous for its signature-made frita, which we found worth the buzz. For over 30 years, they continued to bring their buttery breaded with well-seasoned beef and pork patty burgers loved by locals.

We ordered double patty fritas with a fried egg, and it still cost less than $10. The counter seats were decently comfortable, and the restaurant setting was cozy, albeit a tad bit small. The staff and the owners are all friendly and extend exemplary customer service. The prices are very affordable, making it one of the best budget restaurants in Miami.

Bon Gout BBQ

99 NW 54th St, Miami, FL 33127
(305) 381-5464

This barbecue joint serves the tastiest Haitian cuisine in Miami. We enjoyed their tacos, most especially the Zoe-style ones, which are available in various options. Some of us had the Haitian fried pork option, others had the fried fish option, and others the chicken option. The meat is gently wrapped in a tortilla then topped with pickles, sour cream, queso fresco, and cilantro. They all lived up to our expectations of freshness and palatability. We will return for more of the flavorful experience.

Huahua’s Taqueria

1211 Lincoln Rd, Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 534-8226

We found one of the best varieties of quesadillas, burritos, salads, and nachos at Huahua. The staff are amiable and ever-smiling; it was pretty enjoyable to dine there. The tacos are mouth-watering amazing and range from guaco, chilli rubbed shrimp, grilled Mahi, fried chicken, and gringo, among others. These are the ones we settled for, and they all cost less than $5. The grilled chicken burrito was also under $10, giving us super value for our money. If hosting an event, Huahua offers catering services.

Five Guys

1500 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 538-3807

One afternoon we were craving fast food since we needed to grab a quick bite, so we visited Five Guys. They have quite a number of branches dispersed around. The chain restaurant prepares hot dogs, fries, and burgers upon order while you wait. They were fresh and juicy and were well worth the wait. There is also a takeaway and delivery option, in case you prefer not to dine in. The milkshakes were super delicious, and it was pretty confusing trying to select a few for our group out of the over 1,000 combination options. They use peanut oil for their fries, so it is best to stay away if you’re allergic. Overall, it was a great experience and easy on the dollar.

Crazy About You

1155 Brickell Bay Dr #101, Miami, FL 33131
(305) 377-4442

This high-end yet affordable restaurant offers Spanish, Italian, and Mediterranean cuisine, giving a range of options no matter what your palate desires. The setting is cozy, and the ambiance is attractive. The food portions are substantial, and the customer service is excellent. We tried the tasty oxtail tacos, the serrano ham croquettes, which were superb and the calamari al pepperoncini flatbread, which was terrific. A week later, we went back for the tostones bruschetta, fillet mignon, and applewood braised boneless beef short rib, and they didn’t disappoint. There’s a good variety of drinks at the bar too, with prices displayed, and it gets quite busy during happy hour.

Duffy’s Sports Grill

3969 N.E. 163rd St., North Miami Beach, FL 33160
(305) 760-2124

8575 S.W. 124th Ave., Miami, FL 33183
(305) 406-0001

What’s so great about Duffy’s? It’s football season, and we got to watch our game as we wined and dined. While we waited for our food to be served, we enjoyed the mozzarella sticks biting’s. Among popular meals are the beer-battered fish & chips, jumbo fried shrimp, and buttermilk chicken tenders which were all finger-licking amazing. The experience was nothing short of exciting, and the food was worth every dime.

Plus, there’s a loyalty program, and the reward this year is an MVP Orange Bowl Giveaway – a trip for two. We’ve been to the restaurant at least three other times after our initial visit for the food, sports, and points – they were all worth it. The restaurant offers dine-in, curbside pickup and delivery. Plus, they have other 30 branches within Florida.
