South Florida has quite the gay/LGBTQ+ nightlife scene! There’s an incredible collection of colorful establishments where things stay busy and bright until the morning comes. While some are known for shows, others just want to spoil you with amazing food and drinks. We’re highlighting the eight best gay/LGBTQ+ friendly bars in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale.
2301 SW 32nd Avenue, Miami, FL
With hours going from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursdays through Sundays, this high-energy club is the perfect spot for Miami’s night owls. Live music, fun performers, and a dance floor that’s always going wild guarantee a memorable night of sugar and spice at Azucar every time! While it’s changed ownership over the years, Azucar has been a Miami staple for decades.
1057 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL
With seven different rooms and three separate dance floors, it’s no exaggeration to say that Twist offers a little bit of something for everyone! In fact, it’s the best place in Miami to “bar hop” without ever leaving the building because you weave your way through a labyrinth of different rooms with their own vibes. This club opens its doors to partygoers seven nights a week. Of course, those familiar with the history of Miami’s party scene will already know that this famed South Beach gay club has been hosting dancing, live music, shows, and more since opening its doors back in 1993.

1052 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL
Palace Bar is famous on the Miami bar scene for hosting its iconic Drag Brunch four times per week. A premier LGBTQ+ bar and restaurant since 1988, Palace Bar is respected for its food and atmosphere. There’s no question that this is the gay bar with the best food in Miami! Guests enjoy an upscale, elevated dining experience with the choicest cocktails in the city. While brunch is a big draw, there’s no need to be an early bird to check out the gilded and glitzy layout of Palace because this club keeps things going from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m. nightly!
The Dirty Rabbit
151 NW 24th Street (Suite 107), Miami, FL
The top-notch service and drinks will make you want to hop over to The Dirty Rabbit ASAP if you’re doing a Miami gay bar crawl. While the underground vibe here can almost make The Dirty Rabbit feel like a chill speakeasy, the welcoming atmosphere chops down any elitist aspirations. While drink prices are on par with other gay bars around the city, the mixologists here are at the top of their game. The DJs typically spin a mix of Latin beats and pop.
2232 Wilton Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL
Hunters is Fort Lauderdale’s gay bar with a crisp, cool vibe. Things definitely get packed and sweaty in the dance room. Luckily, it’s easy to cool off with the expertly made, refined cocktails available with fast, courteous service at the bar. While the Friday happy hour at Hunters is always fun, the crowds typically don’t begin to show up until the later hours on Fridays and Saturdays. It’s the karaoke at Hunters that creates the most unforgettable nights among friends!
502 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL
Monas is a fun, unpretentious Fort Lauderdale gay bar that’s been a favorite of locals since 1997. The bartenders here have reputations for being absolute sweethearts. With quirky décor that instantly disarms patrons, this bar offers the perfect place to sip a cold one, shoot some pool, watch a game, or relax on the patio. Monas is probably the best place to get a huge, tasty Bloody Mary in Fort Lauderdale for just a few bucks. Just be warned that this cigarette-friendly bar has a reputation for getting a little bit smoky when things get busy.
1721 North Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL
One step inside Boardwalk makes it clear why this spot is widely considered to be the best gay bar in Fort Lauderdale going on 34 years strong! Great drinks and food create a reason for a night out beyond just getting flirty. If you’re looking for a laid-back night, there’s nothing better than eating burgers and wings on the patio at Boardwalk while hearing the beats from dancing and live music pulsating from within the club.
1409 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL
This high-concept bar is situated inside the lobby of one of Miami’s famous gay hotels. Patrons enjoy great drinks, fun happy hours, and bingo nights in a highly social atmosphere. The mixologists provide top-notch drinks that make dipping in for a visit more than worth it. Due to the “prim and proper” vibe of Bar Gaythering, it makes a great first stop on a Miami gay bar crawl.
