The Brown Hotel

335 W Broadway, Louisville, KY 40202

J. Graham’s Cafe at the Brown Hotel offers a fantastic breakfast buffet with the motherlode of meats, sweets, and eggs. However, if it’s a Hot Brown you’re craving, you are at The Brown Hotel, the birthplace of the hot brown sandwich. Whether you’re staying at the classy, old-school hotel or not, you’ll be treated like a valued guest. Take one bite and you’ll see why it’s the OG; the mornay is loaded with flavor and the sprinkled parmesan and bacon take it to the next notch.

La Pana Bakery y Cafe

1001 Logan St, Louisville, KY 40204

(502) 510-4281

When a bakery has an open view of the kitchen, you know they’re proud of their product. And La Pana, a local Mexican bakery, has every reason to be proud. Everything here is authentically divine, especially the Lechecilla Donut (a cinnamon sugar-coated donut filled with Oaxacan vanilla custard) and the Rol De Canella Con Lechecilla (a flaky puff pastry cinnamon roll filled with Oaxacan vanilla custard and pecans). If the view of the artisan bakers kneading, folding, and baking away didn’t prove that this place is a labor of love, one bite sure will.

The main thing everyone wants to sink their teeth into at brunch is a lovely soft pastry, and Blue Dog has you covered. The restaurant has been operating since 1998, and its European-style pastries are baked to perfection. All the ingredients are locally sourced, and there is a special seasonal menu based on the freshest ingredients. The outdoor seating arrangement where you can enjoy the sun, fresh breeze, and nature makes it an excellent spot for brunch. Some of their tasty brunch items include quiche, chicken salad, levain and the grille artichoke sandwich.

Biscuit Belly

900 E Main St Louisville, KY 40206

What makes this restaurant exceptional is their biscuits which are baked fresh each day and can be stuffed with different meats and spreads, or even enjoyed plain. People rave about the Rockwell, a biscuit sandwich made with buttermilk fried chicken covered in goetta sausage gravy and cheddar cheese. They have vegetarian sandwiches such as the love shack with honey, berries, jam, and pralines or the boomer, a biscuit covered in mushroom gravy and topped with crispy mushrooms. An assortment of beverages is available to wash all this down, like fresh juice, san Pellegrino, rumchatta latte, tequila sunrise and other great options.

One great thing about this spot is that they have a specific brunch menu that offers good quality and generous portion sizes. We recommend the scramble and steak bowl if you are famished, which comes with sirloin steak, scrambled eggs, hashbrown potatoes, a generous drizzle of hollandaise sauce, and roasted grape tomatoes. Some of their other options include blueberry lemon waffles or pancakes, Bissell breakfast bowl, western omelet, and Charleston shrimp and grits. You won’t be disappointed by anything you get here.

There are so many unique egg recipes here you might have a tough time trying to decide what to order. Their teams of highly qualified and dedicated chefs work tirelessly to provide a twist to each meal, and their hard work is evident in the taste and presentation of everything they serve. You can choose to have your eggs as a personalized omelet, Carolina casserole, Mexico city chilaquiles, with steak, a poached salad, or scrambled with toppings of your choice. They also have oatmeal, pancakes, French toast, waffles, and burgers. However, the best way to start your meal off here is with a pomegranate mimosa or the Proud Mary.

CC’s is the spot to go to when you like colorful cocktails, delicious food, and a show for brunch. They have a cotton candy martini which is quite popular with the anyone who walks in the doors. Partly because it tastes good and partly because of how photogenic it is.  The brunch menu includes a hangover garbage plate, giant smoked wings, and loaded potato casserole. For dessert, try the cupcake flight or chocolate couture cake.

Big Bad Breakfast

984 Barret Ave Louisville, KY 40204
(502) 289-8227

Chef Currence grew up making different foods with his grandmother and has brought these unique tastes and flavors to the Big Bad Breakfast menu. They have various dishes here like the Hangtown style scramble with fried gulf oyster, bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes, onions, sliced serrano chilies, and tomatoes. Keke’s breakfast wrap, flapjacks, oyster Caesar salad, and yard work skillets are some of the other best-sellers on this menu. But the real stars of the show are their biscuits. In fact they’re some of the best in the city! Go for a fresh squeezed mimosa or a breakfast margarita and you’re in for a treat.
