Sesame Burgers & Beer

4726 Spruill Ave, North Charleston, SC 29405

You’ll find gourmet burgers on the menu at Sesame. Try such things as the Hangover with bacon and an egg or the Cowboy with grilled jalapenos and a fried onion ring. You can also build your own if you’d like. Protein options include beef, elk, chicken, turkey, and black bean. As the name of the restaurant implies, there are plenty of beer options on the menu. What you might not expect is also a great selection of adult milkshakes. We highly recommend the White Russian shake.

BlackOut Burger

119 Spring St Ste 1, Charleston, SC 29403

You’ll have to work to find BlackOut Burger as it’s hiding inside Charlie’s Grocery. However, once you find it, you’ll be rewarded with hand-smashed patties and all sorts of exciting flavor combinations. It’s take-out only, but they definitely pack everything to endure even longer car rides. You’ll be able to opt for up to four patties stacked into one burger. And if you want a side, you’ve got to go for the Frito pie.

Heavy’s Barburger

1137 Morrison Dr, Charleston, SC 29403

Heavy’s Barburger is an institution that is well-known throughout Charleston. The dining room is always packed. And when the weather is nice, the patio is full, too. The menu features griddle-cooked burgers – and we happen to love the Fun Guy with marinated mushrooms and caramelized onions. Margaritas are prevalent on the menu, though you’ll also find zero-proof cocktails to enjoy. With so many options from the kitchen and the bar, it’s no wonder why this place is always busy.

You’ll also find all-beef patties, as well as the option to sub in a veggie burger. The Spicy Gobble Gobble includes jalapenos and sriracha, which is one of our favorites. They also have potato rounds, which are their take on French Fries. You’ll love the food truck vibe. You can take your order to go or sit down at any of the tables outside. Of course, beer is easily paired with anything you might order.
