The Best Breweries Around Charleston
There’s so many fun times to be had around Charleston.
Whether you’re hitting up the bars on King Street or moving at the leisurely pace of Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms, it’s easy to love life while drinking something cool and delicious. But sometimes a brewery is just what the doctor ordered, with freshly-brewed beers and strong food selections.
Here are our favorite breweries all over the Charleston area.

Holy City Brewing
1021 Aragon Ave, North Charleston, SC 29405
(843) 459-2948
This North Charleston spot has plenty of great beer, but don’t sleep on their food. The Nothing Fancy Burger lives up to its name with American cheese, LTO, dill pickles, and special sauce on a brioche bun; The Falafel Burger is a vegetarian treat with a falafel patty, red pepper walnut spread, lemon poppy yogurt, leafy greens, and sprouts on a charred pita; and the Chopped Cheese is a lovely concoction of ground beef, secret seasoning, diced peppers and onions, American cheese, and “the sauce”. Throw in some Pretzels and Smoked Wings (with the tart and spicy green chile sauce) and you’ll be a happy brewery-goer.

Palmetto Brewing Co.
289 Huger St, Charleston, SC 29403
(843) 937-0903
Palmetto originally opened in 1888 and, after a brief mid-20th century hiatus, has been alive and well since 1993, serving amber ales and more that you can enjoy at the main bar as well as their “speakeasy”. Don’t sleep on the Gobble Gobble Food Truck, focusing on turkey burgers like the signature Gobble Gobble: a turkey burger topped with white cheddar, arugula, and lemon pepper aioli on brioche. Make sure to include a side of Potato Rounds, their take on fries.

Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co.
1505 King St #115, Charleston, SC 29405
(843) 718-3224
This King Street spot has 20 house-brewed beers on tap (ales, sours, and more) as well as wine and cocktail options. You’ll never go thirsty at Edmund’s Oast, but you’ll certainly never go hungry either: check out the taproom’s offerings of snacks, sandwiches, and pizzas.

Two Blokes Brewing
547 Long Point Rd #101, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464
(843) 654-4564
You don’t need to be a bloke yourself to enjoy this Mt. Pleasant brewery. This kid-friendly and dog-friendly spot has a rotating lineup of food trucks, live music, fundraisers, and so much more. Plus, they have several beers on tap as well as a few nitro options.

Munkle Brewing Company

Make your way over to Munkle next time you find yourself in downtown Charleston! They have all types of crisp and refreshing beer: Belgians, stouts, ales, pilsners, and the list goes on. You can bask in the sun on their plant-filled patio or enjoy a quieter time at the bar.

Revelry Brewing Co
10 Conroy St, Charleston, SC 29403
(843) 376-1303
This downtown spot is always bursting at the seams with revelry. The drinks are of course tasty, and perhaps best enjoyed on their rooftop bar. Plus, they have a surprisingly delicious selection of sushi, sushi burritos, and poke. So whether you’re going to meet a group for happy hour or hosting a private event, bring on the revelry with Revelry Brewing Co!

Tradesman Brewing Company
1647 King St Ext, Charleston, SC 29405
(843) 410-1315
Don’t miss out on the good times to be had at Tradesman Brewing Company, right off King Street. They produce over 3,000 barrels of beer a year, which you can enjoy in servings of 4-oz, 8-oz, and 16-oz, plus growlers. But Tradesman truly shines with their event calendar, recurring clubs, and food trucks.

Westbrook Brewery
510 Ridge Rd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464
(843) 654-9114
This Mt. Pleasant spot has 22 rotating beers of all types on tap. Several of these have even been aged in barrels, giving them the unique rustic flavor typically reserved for whiskeys. And if you like the beer you’re sipping on, make sure to check out their store for beers and seltzers as well as glassware, apparel, and even used barrels.
