Café Milano

Cafe Milano is famous for their Capellini with tomato sauce and the veal Milanese, but they might be in the history books for a whole other reason – it’s been a favorite for a number of presidents, congressmen, senators and other notable DC residents throughout the decades.  It’s all for good reason – they make incredible, Northern Italian classic dishes across their whole menu.  Don’t leave without trying the tiramisu!

Filomena

We’ve written about them on other lists on this site, but for good reason – there’s something special about seeing the Nonna’s rolling pasta from the large glass windows at Filomena.  The gnocchi is a pillowy, surefire favorite of this writer’s, but you can also never go wrong with linguini cardinale and the lasagna.  But bring your appetite – they do not skimp on portions!

Clyde’s

You can’t visit the East Coast and not have some crabs – and Clyde’s has crabs covered!  The crab cakes have kept folks coming for decades, especially during brunch, but don’t sleep on the crab dip.  It’s creamy, mouthwatering goodness served with a crusty baguette to capture all those drippings.  Grab a Bloody Mary while you’re at it, and you’re officially a Georgetown regular.

Sequoia

This Georgetown waterfront bar and nightclub has been keeping the college kids well fed over the years (and well lubricated if the ID’s are good enough).  Known more for the scene than their kitchen, it’s a bit of an unfair characterization.  The kitchen can really turn out some delicious dishes, including an impressive Chilean Sea Bass and Chimichurri Chicken and Shrimp.  If you’re heading there with a crew, make sure to hit up the Scarlet Seafood Tower for some of the best seafood from the East coast.
