Negril DC is a classic, hole in the wall Jamaican joint serving up some delish and fresh food. They’ve got all the classics like beef patties, curry chicken roti, and fried plantains. You can’t leave here without trying a slice of their rum cake, though. It is one of the menu items they are known for, and rightfully so.

Get your sandwich on a toasted butter roll, biscuit, english muffin, or loaded up between two pancakes. There are so many yummy options like Breakfast in Bed which has fried chicken, hickory bacon, and pimento cheese all on a biscuit. You just might want to come for an early breakfast and then come back and try another sandwich for brunch.

If you are in the area, this is one of those places that you just have to try. The vibe here is super cool and almost makes you feel like you could be in a speakeasy. The decorations are awesome and it just feels super comfortable. They have a brunch menu that will wow you from shrimp and grits to vanilla bean challah french toast. Then for dinner, the offer options like braised lamb shank, fra diavolo, hemp crusted Atlantic salmon and so many more wonderful options. There is something for everyone at Mr. Braxton’s.

This family-owned business started with a simple vision: serve fried chicken that anybody can feel good eating. Seven stores later, they’ve certainly lived up to that vision. Their sandwiches are available with a number of toppings and four levels of heat, ranging from Mild to Extra Hot. If it’s your first visit, it’s hard to beat The Buffalo, topped with bleu cheese and buffalo sauce. Other great options include the Honey Butter, smothered with a garlicky sweet honey butter, and the OG Nashville, topped with pickles and a vinaigrette slaw. The twice-fried fries are crispy and salted to perfection, and available with a variety of dipping sauces.
