Skipper’s Smokehouse

910 Skipper Rd, Tampa, FL 33613
(813) 971-0666

Skipper’s Smokehouse is a great casual seafood spot. The Blackened Grouper Reuben sandwich is a great option and is their signature sandwich, and this is because it is truly one of the tastiest options. The fish is smoked and so delicious. It’s served with sauerkraut, and the combination is unexpected yet ridiculously tasty.

The menu has many other delicious options, such as appetizers, a smoked fish dip, fried gator’s tail, and always delicious onion rings. Skipper’s Smokehouse serves great smoked and fried food in a wonderful atmosphere with live music for entertainment. The clam chowder is another tasty option from this eatery, and the service is always prompt and friendly.

Ulele

1810 N Highland Ave, Tampa, FL 33602
(813) 999-4952

Ulele serves great food all around, but the grouper sandwich is exceptional. The sandwich is served with lettuce, red onion, tomato and zucchini pickles that have been made in the restaurant. All these are served on a brioche bun that is so dang fresh and tasty. The grouper comes either grilled, fried or blackened. We’ve only sampled it fried, and it was so crispy on the outside and delicately done on the inside. The other meals on the menu are great, especially the Alligator Hush Puppies, and the Fuego sweet corn, which is so buttery and seasoned just right. The house-made beers are a great complement to any meal.

Big Ray’s Fish Camp

6116 Interbay Blvd Tampa, FL 33611
(813) 605-3615

Big Ray’s Fish Camp has been mentioned as one of the eateries with the best grouper sandwich, and those accolades are all true. The grouper sandwich we hav sampled is blackened with herb and parmesan cheese-loaded fries. The grouper is fresh and blackened to perfection because the spices and herbs are subtle and merge very well. They also have Fried Grouper Cheeks, which come with a sweet sauce with a touch of spiciness. The spot is popular, and it tends to be full most of the time. However, the service is fast, and the food comes out fast. You can also get your grouper sandwich fried or grilled if that better suits your mood.

The accompanying sweet and chilli sauce is the perfect accompaniment to the sandwich. The menu is full of freshly caught seafood, and it certainly tastes like it.

The menu has other seafood options such as oysters which are either steamed or baked, fried shrimp, calamari fries and a host of other tasty meals. Blue Sea Fish Market and Restaurant

7110 N Nebraska Ave Tampa, FL 33604

The fried grouper sandwich from Blue Sea Fish Market and Restaurant is a must-have when in Tampa. The sandwich comes with lettuce and tomato and tartar sauce, and there is an option of cheese if you’re feeling extra indulgent. The clam strips are also perfectly fried and tasty, as are the delicious onion rings. The food comes in very generous portions and is fresh, which makes this one of those restaurants that you want to visit repeatedly. The market has a great selection of fresh fish and other seafood, and you can buy some to go home and cook it yourself. It gets pretty packed, but the service is quick.

Circles Waterfront Restaurant

1212 Apollo Beach Blvd, Apollo Beach, FL 33572
(813) 641-3275

Circles Waterfront Restaurant is a cozy eatery with a great ambiance. The grouper sandwich is served with a filling of lettuce, tomato, pickles, and tartar sauce, all of which come in lightly toasted brioche bread. The grouper is either fried, grilled or blackened, and we opted to have the blackened option.

We had the sandwich with kale slaw, which was a great addition. The menu has other seafood options such as pasta, grilled various seafoods, and so many other meals, and there are vegetarian options as well. The desserts were good, and we had the coconut ice cream and finished off with coffee. The drinks menu is vast, with wines, cocktails, beers, soft drinks and frozen drinks.

Hula Bay

5210 W Tyson Ave, Tampa, FL 33611
(813) 837-4852

Hula Bay has an amazing grouper sandwich made with a special twist. The bun is a Hawaiian sweet bun that elevates this already amazing sandwich. The fish is well done and well seasoned, and it is quite tasty in the bun. The eatery is located on a waterfront and has outdoor and indoor seating.

In pleasant weather, the outdoor seating is wonderful. There is an expansive drinks menu since it is a pub, and you can get a variety of cocktails and beers. The menu has other fresh seafood meals, and we also had the scallops, shrimp and sushi and all the food was fresh. The generous portions were also great for your wallet.

Salt Shack on the Bay

5415 W Tyson Ave Tampa, FL 33611
(813) 444-4569

Salt Shack on the Bay is a restaurant and bar with all the Caribbean vibes and great fresh seafood and beautiful views of Old Tampa Bay. The grouper sandwich we had was blackened, and it was full of flavor and very fresh. We also had the coconut fried shrimp, which was very good and came with a tangy citrus mustard sauce.

The grouper bites are another potentially great option to sample, but we were full from our meal and will try those the next time we visit. The eatery has two bars and has a casual atmosphere with plenty of drinks.

The cheesy grits and fries (which come in a generous portion) are great complements. The drinks are delicious, with the mimosas and sangrias delicious additions to wash down any meal. The service is friendly and fast, too.

Rick’s On The River

2305 N Willow Ave Tampa, FL 33607
(813) 251-0369

As it is popularly known, Rick’s has a delicious grouper sandwich. It comes either grilled, pulled or blackened. The blackened group is perfectly cooked, so flavorful, and well done on the outside, while the inside was tender and fresh.

The sandwich comes with your standard lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce, which complements the fish perfectly. The oysters are also pretty good, and generally, all the food items are all around solid. They have a great drinks menu, and the service is fast and friendly even though it gets pretty full, partly because they have some of the best grouper sandwiches in Tampa!
