The search for vegan restaurants can be difficult, but Seattle offers many delicious dining options to accommodate vegans. The pandemic may have caused difficulties for many restaurants, but the demand for vegan dining is still growing and stronger than ever. Here are our top recommendations for delicious, vegan restaurants in Seattle.

Plum Bistro

1429 12th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122
(206) 838-5333

Since 2009, Plum Bistro has been dubbed “Capitol Hill’s Most Loved Vegan Restaurant” This upscale, industrial-chic restaurant doesn’t serve ordinary, bland vegan fare full of fillers. Instead, diners can enjoy delectable dishes such as cajun “mac and yease”, black truffle gnocchi, and buffalo portobello burgers. Head chef Makini Howell also operates Plum Chopped, a healthy and delicious salad outlet. In addition, Howell owns Sugar Plum, a plant-based bakery to satisfy the vegan sweet tooth.

Harvest Beat

1711 N 45th St, Seattle, WA 98103
(206) 547-1348

We don’t always associate vegan food with fine dining, but this upscale, farm-to-table vegan restaurant provides just that! Not only is the food organic and vegan, but the restaurant also dedicates itself to being eco-friendly and sustainable. Their farm-to-table dining style reduces the need to stock food that may go to waste, and it provides diners with a dynamic, creative menu that fits seasonal availability. Meals are available as either five-course dinners or simple to-go lunches. Our favorites include the roasted garlic lentil cake and the cinnamon chocolate mousse on glazed cherries!

Next Level Burger

1026b Ne 64th St, Seattle, WA 98115
(206) 319-0026

Who doesn’t love a good burger? Located inside Whole Foods at U district, Next Level Burger is one of our favorite burger joints in Seattle for plant-based burgers, fries, and shakes. Diners can choose from a meat-like patty such as the Impossible burger or veggie-style patties such as the in-house black bean or mushroom quinoa. Diners can either build their burgers or choose one of the restaurant’s in-house burger options such as the SoCal burger. For a satisfying sweet treat, we love their vegan, hand-spun cookies and cream shake made with coconut soft serve ice cream!

Pi Vegan Pizzeria

5301 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105
(206) 343-1415

Pizza is one of the foods that vegans miss the most, but we have another option: Pi Vegan Pizzeria! The restaurant is the oldest vegan pizzeria in America and one of the best vegan restaurants in Seattle overall. For appetizers, we recommend the addictive white garlic breadsticks or the creamy, plant-based spinach artichoke dip. For the main meal, diners can go with classic pizzeria options such as the Margarita or go for a more eclectic choice such as the Mac ‘N’ Cheese pizza with white garlic sauce. We love that you can also build your pizza with your choice of four kinds of plant-based cheeses. Gluten-free alternatives are available as well!

Georgetown Liquor Company

5501 Airport Way S Ste. B, Seattle, WA 98108
(206)402-5367

Georgetown Liquor Company is a vegan bar and restaurant located in Seattle’s historic Georgetown neighborhood. The restaurant closed in September 2020 and then reopened under new management in December 2020, but it hasn’t missed a beat! Their menu puts innovative vegan twists on bar classics. We recommend their Blue Burger topped with their in-house vegan blue cheese! The restaurant makes all of their plant-based meats and cheeses from scratch, so there is no overprocessed, bland vegan food here!

Frankie and Jo’s

1010 E Union St, Seattle, WA 98122
(206) 557-4603

Vegan ice cream does exist! Offering creamy, plant-based ice cream in a vintage, 70s style setting, Frankie & Jos challenges whatever we thought about vegan ice cream. They offer ten permanent, in-house flavors as well as seasonal varieties. We suggest their Black Forest Cake ice cream made with dark chocolate eggplant cake and cherry jam! Their ice creams use in-house cashew milk and coconut milk for the base, which gives a creamy texture that we only thought was possible with dairy ice cream!

Araya’s Place

5240 University Way, Seattle, WA 98105
(206) 524-4332

Seattle has quite a few vegan Thai restaurants, but Araya’s Place is one of our favorites. What sets Araya’s Place apart from other vegan Thai restaurants in Seattle is their famous all-you-can-eat lunch buffet. It’s rare to find a vegan buffet anywhere, but here you can eat your heart out and get your fill of vegan Thai foods such as spring rolls and Panang curry. Even non-vegans will enjoy the delicious food!

Their organic, vegan menu includes hummus wraps, cheeseburgers, sandwiches, house-made soups, and more. They also offer gluten-free juices, smoothies, teas, and coffees. They take special pride in using locally-grown ingredients for added freshness and variety. For a sweet treat, we suggest their homemade banana walnut bread.

Wayward Vegan Café

801 NE 65th St Ste C, Seattle, WA 98115
(206) 524-0204

This counter-style vegan restaurant in the Roosevelt neighborhood serves classic greasy-spoon meals with a vegan twist! The restaurant offers all-day breakfast and lunch with a wide range of choices such as chicken and waffles, vegan mozzarella sticks, and tempeh bacon. Our favorite is the Mac Daddy, a vegan alternative to the Big Mac that consists of plant-based patties topped with Thousand Island sauce, vegan cheese, pickles, lettuce, and onions.

ChuMinh Tofu and Veggie Deli

1043 S Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104

(206) 723-6095

ChuMinh Tofu and Veggie Deli brings Vietnamese staples to the plant-based diet. If you like what you see, make sure you partake in the buffet for only $16.95 for all you can eat.

The BBQ pork banh mi is a French baguette split lengthwise and filled with homemade vegan BBQ “pork” and cilantro, cucumber, pickled carrots, pickled daikon, and jalapenos along with chili sauce and vegan mayonnaise. The pho consists of a vegan broth with a combination of rice noodles, button mushroom, oyster mushroom, tofu ham and tofu served in vegan broth. Finally, the “salad in a roll” is a rice paper roll filled with tofu, lettuce, and vermicelli rolled in rice paper and served with mung bean sauce.

Wayward Vegan Cafe

801 NE 65th St Suite C, Seattle, WA 98115

(206) 524-0204

Wayward has been slinging vegan diner food since 2004. Classic dishes you know and love take on a whole new life when converted to become plant-free. Don’t be surprised when you find that these meals are just as filling as any meat dish. Here are a few examples.

The biscuits and gravy take a warm, open-faced, herb biscuit and smother it in vegan mushroom gravy and serve it with seasoned tofu scramble, tempeh bacon, and sausage links. The fettuccine alfredo utilizes a rich and creamy cashew alfredo sauce. The buffalo chicken drumsticks are faux-chicken “drumsticks” fried golden brown and then tossed in spicy buffalo sauce and served with house-made ranch. Finally, the Lock Jaw Burger is a double-decker with grilled vegan burger patties layered between deep fried mozzarella wedges and topped with fresh spring mix and sauteed garlicky-thyme mushrooms.

El Borracho

1521 1st Ave NW Seattle, WA 98101

(206) 538-0144

El Borracho takes one of the most beloved cuisines and makes it 100% plant-based. They’ve got the usual favorites like margaritas and salsas, but they’re not afraid to think outside of the box.

Get a burrito with Tex-Mex style Impossible meat, chipotle potatoes, nacho cheese sauce, and chipotle sour cream. Or maybe you’re feeling the soyrizo burrito with egg and potato. There’s also nachos with sweet tofu and pineapple or the ancho chile adobe steak.
