Asadero stands out as both a steakhouse as well as a Mexican restaurant. You’ll find delicious mesquite-grilled meats across the menu. Tortillas and salsas are made in-house, offering an authentic touch. The dining room is large with plenty of booths for larger parties. In addition to amazing steaks, be sure to check out their drink specials and rotating local beers. A chef’s daily recommendation on the chalkboard is usually our go-to for figuring out what to order.

2. Café Munir

Café Munir is a fun place with a Lebanese influence across the menu. The dining room is small with an elegant touch of white linen on all of the tables. It’s perfect for date night with plenty of small plates that you can share. Fresh ingredients are used throughout, and you’ll find vegetarian dishes. We love the vegetable skewers. 3. The Fat Hen

The moment we saw The Fat Hen, we knew it was something we had to try. The menu is filled with Italian and New American dishes. Breakfast and lunch are served, providing a brunchy vibe amid a rustic dining room. Delicious coffees and espressos are available as well as a drink menu featuring beer, wine, and even a beermosa. Don’t be surprised that it gets very busy on the weekends.

When you’re craving Thai, there’s no better place in the Ballard neighborhood than Pestle Rock. The dishes come from the Isan Peninsula with options like stir-fry, soup, and curry. Dishes can be as spicy as you want them to be. Many of the meals also allow you to ditch utensils entirely and use your hands. There’s also a full bar, allowing you to get any cocktail you desire. As for the vibe, it’s trendy with a small outdoor patio which is lovely when the weather is nice.

If you want romance and Italian food, San Fermo is the ultimate date night restaurant in the Ballard neighborhood. It is nestled inside a historic building. The dining room is small and intimate while a bar and patio also offer cozy vibes. The menu features classic Italian dishes as well as homemade pasta. The menus change daily based on the season as well as the availability of fresh and local ingredients. A stunning wine menu is also available, with most options coming directly from Italy.

6. Spice Waala

Spice Waala is a small restaurant that is big on flavors. Indian street food is served up for lunch and dinner. You can order at the counter and sit inside or take it to go. Wraps and chaat are some of the favorite items to order, though they’re always changing up their menu. It’s the perfect place to stop when you want a snack. Many menu items are under $10, too.

With a name like The Walrus and the Carpenter, how could this not be at the top of the list? The restaurant is the perfect marriage between a fishing pub and an American diner. You’ll find oysters in virtually every manner along with other seafood and plenty of American cuisines. The small space includes seating at tables and at the bar. Chicken liver mousse is a favorite, though you won’t want to miss out on their cheeses and sweets, either.
