Mas Tacos Por Favor

732 Mcferrin Ave, Nashville, TN 37206
(615) 543-6271

As the name implies, this place is all about tacos. What we quickly learned is that they also have some amazing soups. The restaurant started as a food truck and its wild success made it easy for them to open the location that is now found in East Nashville. A bowl of pozole verde will run about $6, giving you room to spare to enjoy a horchata or even a Mexican soda. Be sure to check out their daily specials for some other incredible options for lunch or dinner.

Big Al’s Deli

1828 4th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208
(615) 242-8118

You can grab breakfast or lunch for under $10 at Big Al’s Deli. The interior feels like the quintessential diner that it is, and the food is just as good as you’d imagine. Indulge in a large stack of pancakes, fried pork chops, or even shrimp and grits. You’ll be surprised by what you can get without spending a lot. Southern comfort food is their specialty, and we’re here for it. They are closed on Sunday and Monday, so be sure to note that so you don’t get disappointed.

Dino’s

411 Gallatin Ave, Nashville, TN 37206
(615) 226-3566

Dino’s may be a dive bar, but it’s also got some amazing bar food that is priced right when you’re on a budget. You can get a Porter Road cheesesteak that is absolutely delicious for under $10. You can also get a burger and fries. With the right menu choices, you can still have a bit of money left over for a domestic draft in a pony glass. It’s got an old-school vibe, which makes sense since it’s been on the scene since the 1970’s.

Robert’s Western World

416 Broadway # B, Nashville, TN 37203
(615) 244-9552

When you want a taste of the south while also being able to enjoy a bit of history, Robert’s Western World doesn’t disappoint. Most of what’s on the menu is less than $10, though you can have a fried bologna sandwich, chips, and a PBR for about $6 – and it’s known as the “recession special.” One visit here and you’ll figure out why Nashville is the home of country music thanks to their live bands.

VN Pho & Deli

5906 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN 37209
(615) 356-5995

When you’re craving a bowl of pho or any other authentic Vietnamese food, you can visit VN Pho & Deli. It’s one of the hot spots found on the west side of the city. The Banh Mi are Vietnamese sandwiches that are about $7, and a traditional steamed pork one always hits the spot. Oh, and you’ll find all sorts of sweet buns for sale every day when you first go in. We recommend grabbing an egg custard on your way out for dessert.

Baja Burrito

722 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204
(615) 383-2252

Located in the neighborhood of Berry Hill, we stumbled on Baja Burrito because of the amazing aroma that was wafting out of the place. For under $10, you can grab yourself a burrito or even a basket of three tacos. The fast-casual place is always bustling, so don’t be alarmed when you see a line during the lunch rush. The interior has a fun vibe. There’s also a huge outdoor seating area with umbrellas to enjoy the Nashville weather.

Tex’s World Famous Bar-B-Q

1013 Foster Ave, Nashville, TN 37210
(615) 254-8715

While you’ll find a lot of barbecue places throughout Nashville, not all will be as affordable (or as delicious) as Tex’s. There’s a “lite lunch” platter that will give you a small portion of barbecue as well as three veggie sides for about $8. Of course, you can also enjoy a pulled pork sandwich for even less than that. You can grab your food to go or relax in the rustic dining room. They’re only open for lunch, so plan accordingly.

Fat Mo’s

2620 8th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204
(615) 298-1111

You’ll find Fat Mo’s at a few different locations, though we find that this one has a convenient location. This spot has been around since 1991, and the prices are virtually unbeatable. Just about everything on the menu falls under the $10 mark, though we recommend hamburgers. It’s the original item, and they’re cooked to order. There are also fried chicken sandwiches and catfish sandwiches that are all under $7. That leaves room for either fries or an old-fashioned milkshake.

tots and hotdog from Daddy's Dogs in Nashville

Daddy’s Dogs

5205 Centennial Blvd, Nashville, TN 37209
(615) 802-8481

Grab lunch or dinner from Daddy’s Dogs. While there are multiple locations in Nashville, the one on Centennial Blvd offers a great vibe. Hot dogs are topped with all sorts of different flavor profiles, though we happen to love the Elote with grilled corn, bacon, and cotija cheese. The dogs are a meal on their own, and they’re priced at just under $10. You can also luck out with a drink and a side if you order the Lone Wolf combo.

Yeast Nashville

805 Woodland St #300, Nashville, TN 37206
(615) 330-7521

A delicious breakfast is one of the best ways to start your day, and Yeast has you covered when you’re trying to stick to your budget. Relax in the cozy restaurant with a hot or iced coffee that will run about $3. Then, follow it up with one of their many fresh goodies, whether it’s a fresh Kolache or a blueberry muffin. A pastry and java will easily be under $10, even if you treat yourself with an added flavor shot in your coffee.
