Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as they say, and there’s nothing we love more than delicious flaky biscuits. Is there really anything better than one smothered in sausage gravy or slathered with some jam? They’re honestly so scrumptious no matter how you eat them. When you’re searching for the best breakfast spots where biscuits are on the menu in Louisville, KY, we have you covered.

Highland Morning

1416 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40204
(502) 365-3900

Highland Morning is a family-friendly restaurant. While it may be small, it is also mighty. It’s only open for breakfast and lunch. There’s a small bar where you can order coffee as well as cocktails. The biscuit and gravy omelet is our personal favorite because it combines our love of biscuits and gravy into a fluffy three-egg omelet. And their gravy is so good they’ve actually won awards for it.

Gralehaus

1001 Baxter Ave, Louisville, KY 40204
(502) 857-7457

When people told us that the biscuits here were ridiculously good, we knew that Gralehaus was a must-stop. The café is eclectic, and there’s also a bed and breakfast upstairs. Breakfast and lunch are served, plus you’ll find craft beer. Scratch biscuits can be a meal with country sausage gravy, or you can get it with a side with jam. Coffee and lattes are works of art. Outdoor seating is also available, allowing you to soak up the beautiful weather of Louisville.

Biscuit Belly

900 E Main St #101, Louisville, KY 40206
(502) 409-5729

Biscuit Belly is found in a few locations, though we love the one in NULU because of where it is situated. The restaurant is simple with some amazing breakfast sandwiches served on biscuits. They pour a good cup of coffee and also offer floats and cocktails if you’re feeling a bit mischievous. Many of the tables throughout the dining room are community-style, making it easy to check out what other people are eating. Their Hot Brown is a fun take on the Louisville classic, placing turkey, gouda, and bacon on a biscuit.

Big Bad Breakfast

984 Barret Ave, Louisville, KY 40204
(502) 289-1922

Open for breakfast and lunch daily, Big Bad Breakfast is in the business of serving up hearty portions. There’s almost always a wait to get a table, which should tell you just how good the food is. There’s indoor and outdoor seating with all sorts of accolades on the wall about the restaurant and its history. Biscuits are an entire section on the menu, which we love. The Mother of All Biscuits is the way to go, complete with a crispy-fried dill chicken breast served on a buttermilk biscuit.

Maple Street Biscuit Company

1004 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40204
(502) 384-8022

What they do best is in the name, so we had to check it out. Maple Street is a growing chain and Louisville is lucky enough to have one. The menu is eclectic with lots of different dishes for breakfast and lunch served on a biscuit. The Squawking Goat is a house favorite with fried chicken and goat cheese. The dining room is laid back with plenty of seating. Plus, they offer a to-go menu for when you want to take your biscuits and run.

Eggs Over Frankfort

2712 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, KY 40206
(502) 709-4452

Homestyle breakfast is what you’ll find at Eggs Over Frankfort, and we love them for making our favorite meal of the day uncomplicated. The dining room offers casual seating, and there’s also a patio that overlooks a wooded area. Crescent Hill coffee is on the menu with the option of adding countless flavor shots. The biscuits are some of the largest in the city, and when they’re covered in house-made sausage gravy, they’re absolutely divine.

Wild Eggs

121 S Floyd St, Louisville, KY 40202
(502) 690-5925

You’ll actually find a few Wild Eggs locations around Louisville, but we like this one conveniently situated in the Mercantile Gallery Lofts. The bright, open dining room offers a relaxed vibe. The menu is extensive, offering breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Biscuits are served on the side of many of the dishes, and you can wash them down with anything from mimosas to spirited coffees. The place gets busy on the weekends, so it’s a good idea to make a reservation.

Wagner’s Pharmacy

3113 S 4th St, Louisville, KY 40214
(502) 375-3800

Wagner’s is an old-school diner that has been serving up amazing breakfast and lunch since 1922. It’s definitely an #IYKYK kind of place located across from Churchill Downs. The bacon egg biscuit is one of the best deals on the menu, and they come in pairs. You can’t miss the location from the road with its dark green awning. And once you walk inside, you’re treated like family. Jimmy Dean is the breakfast sausage of choice, and when you get them some with biscuits, it’s one of the best darn meals. Oh, and if you need another reason to visit, it was even featured on Food Network’s Throwdown! With Bobby Flay.
