The Fifth Province is found inside the Irish American Heritage Center. While they’re closed Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, they are open for dinner the rest of the week – and until 1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. If you’re of Irish descent, this is where you’ll want to visit to establish a community in the Chicago area. They’ve collaborated with Lake Effect Brewing Company for their own Irish red ale. And you’ll find that the pub fare includes bangers & mash and other classics.

Dark wood helps Fado welcome you in and provide a traditional Irish atmosphere. Soccer plays on the TV’s, whiskey is poured at the bar, and there’s a charming vibe throughout. While you can find traditional items on the menu, Saturday and Sunday are where they stand out with brunch and live music. Signature cocktails and seasonal cocktails are found at the bar along with a book of the beers and wines that are served.

D4 has become a local hangout where you’ll find cozy corners to socialize, a fireplace to keep you warm, and a bar where friendly bartenders will listen to your woes. The menu is eclectic, featuring everything from Reubens and filet mignon sandwiches to chicken pot pies and bourbon-glazed salmon. The bar menu is even larger than what comes out of the kitchen, featuring cocktails, mocktails, beer, wine, and hard ciders. They’re open for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays but close on Mondays to recover from it all.

Kerryman is a popular place to hang after work. The multilevel pub provides plenty of areas to mingle, drink, and sit down for some pub food. And with a bustling dining room and a patio, there is plenty of seating. Of course, they do take reservations, which is a good idea because of how busy they can get. Chicken Curry, Beef and Guinness Pie, and other classics are served. The family-friendly place also boasts fun appetizers, like shepherd’s pie egg rolls.

The River Shannon has been part of the Chicago scene since 1976. The pub has a palpable neighborhood vibe with countless Irish whiskeys and beer behind the bar. Pizza is the primary food, but as a dog-friendly pub, they also have dog treats, which is a fun twist. Daily specials provide great deals on cocktails and drinks throughout the week. Games, live music, and more help to create a fun atmosphere inside and on their patio.

The Curragh Irish Pub is a traditional place where you’ll find Irish-American fare on the menu and soccer playing on the TVs. They boast about knowing how to pour a pint of Guinness properly, though you’ll find plenty more to drink, too. A traditional Irish breakfast is on the menu, complete with Irish rashers. You’ll also find fish & chips, shepherd’s pie, and more. If you’re there more for the vibe than the Irish food, they partner with Que Onda where you can enjoy burritos, tacos, and other Mexican food.

While Lady Gregory’s appears as though it’s your traditional Irish pub, the menu will tell you that you’ve stepped inside something unique. The upscale farm-to-table cuisine allows you to indulge in such things as goat cheese flatbread, chipotle turkey burgers, and even more pub-style food like macaroni and cheese with bacon. If you’re just looking to sip a beer or cocktail, there’s also a library for you to lounge in. They go all-out for St. Patrick’s Day every year with a special menu that spans for two weeks, but it’s a good time year round.
