Hitting the clubs around Boston is a popular activity for lots of people, but for those under 21, finding a place to go dance the night away or listen to a great band is a little bit trickier. So we’ve put together a list of the top places to go for the under-21 crowd to still have a good time! You will find some clubs as well as concert venues that allow those below the legal drinking age to come and enjoy their events and venues in the Boston, MA area.

Havana Club

This rocking dance and social club is a great place for the under-21 crowd to meet up in Boston. Dance lessons are offered most nights for different dance styles followed by social events featuring those styles of music and dance for the rest of the night. Perfect for beginners or experienced dancers, Havana Club offers 18+ nights as well as some 21 and up evenings on different nights along with salsa, bachata and other nightly themes.

Paradise Rock Club

Paradise Rock is best known for its lineup of bands scheduled to play here every week. While the sounds stick mainly to rock and indie, the bands here put on a great show at this smaller venue. The under-21 crowd is welcome here at most shows. And this venue, located at the edge of the Boston University campus, states that 18 and up is the usual age requirement for attending a show making Paradise Rock Club a popular place for all ages of students and locals to go.

Big Night Live

Big Night Live is actually three different venues under one roof: the Live Hall, a huge live music venue; Studio B, a more intimate space with tables; and Guy Fieri’s Tequila Cocina, a Latin restaurant. The under-21 crowd can attend concerts and shows here as well as visit the restaurant. Some live events are also booked as themed dance parties, turning the massive space into an enormous club with spectacular lighting, huge screens pulsing with graphics or videos and of course, great music for the crowd to dance the night away.

House of Blues

This famous spot has locations all over the country and Boston’s House of Blues is a hugely popular nightspot to go for live music as they provide entrance to guests of all ages. Located adjacent to Fenway Park, the House of Blues is a popular spot on game days as well. An on-site restaurant serves up casual meals like Pimento Dip with Focaccia bread for dipping as well as excellent burgers like the house specialty with jalapeno bacon and fried avocado, both perfect for a pre-concert meal before the evening show fires up.

The Middle East

The popular Middle East restaurant and club located in Central Square is well-known for its live music shows. Downstairs is where national acts perform in the larger space while local groups are typically hosted upstairs in the more intimate space. Under 21’s might need an escort but they are allowed to attend most shows here depending on the group making it a great spot to catch a live show. The restaurant on street level is a very popular place to go in Boston as well and diners love their Shrimp Kabobs and authentic middle eastern dishes like Falafel and Hoomis served nightly at the cozy restaurant before the music venue ramps up.

Owned by the same people as The Middle East, Sonia also offers live music events to the under-21 crowd. This middle-sized venue books a wide variety of acts making it perfect for the younger crowd as a place to catch trendy, new or local live shows.
